Near LAKE PEPIN, Minn (KTTC) - Authorities are urging caution on local lakes after a vehicle broke through the ice on Lake Pepin Tuesday morning.
The Goodhue County Sheriff's Office received a report that an ATV had gone through the ice on Lake Pepin, off of Methodist Point in Florence Township.
Michael Warner, 59, was driving an ATV pulling a sled with ice fishing gear when he drove on thin ice and then into open water on the point.
Warner went into the water with the ATV.
ATV passenger, Bob Seidl, 60, did not go in the water and was able to pull Warner from the water.
The two made their way back to shore where they called authorities and were warming themselves in a vehicle when deputies arrived.
