ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- On Monday alone about 4,000 roses arrived at Flowers by Jerry ahead of Valentine's Day.
"These are all red. Everybody wants red for love," said owner Kevin Patton.
She's quick but careful, knowing that each rose she places could serve as a reminder to someone of just how much they're loved.
During one of the busiest times of year, floral designer Becky Atwood said it's just natural to love the environment.
"It's always fun to be around them and I love the scent of them like any young lady," Atwood said.
These are the flowers that will make up some of the roughly 300 bouquets owner Kevin Patton expects to sell. With the holiday falling on a Thursday many of them will be delivered to the work place.
"It's neat for your coworkers to know you're loved," Patton said.
When everything outside is dead, these flowers from South America are just starting life. The flowers are delicately prepared so they bloom in the home.
"It's just so nice to have the beauty and the freshness that you don't get in Minnesota year around," Atwood said.
Valentine's Day is the single busiest day of the year.
"There's definitely an adrenaline rush especially the day before and the day of," Atwood said. "There's lots of people moving around, very busy. I think we're all kind of excited to see the fruition of our labor being that we've been working for a week and building up to this point."
It's a gift that will perish but Patton argues that might be the best part.
"In this day in age, that's the beauty of flowers because everybody has so much stuff," Patton said.
As many as half of the bouquets sold will be bought on Feb. 14 rather than pre-ordered.
