ST. PAUL, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Gov. Mark Dayton delivered his State of the State address Wednesday night.
Gov. Dayton spoke about a number of issues in the speech, but the biggest issue addressed was the budget.
Dayton said that his budget takes a balanced approach with a combination of spending cuts and revenue increases.
Dayton argued that past tax cuts caused problems in the state and that the middle class bears an unfair burden of the tax load.
Dayton also made specific mention of Destination Medical Center calling on the legislature to help the Mayo Clinic "out class their competitors."
"I thank the Mayo whose CEO Dr. John Noseworthy is here with us tonight as a guest of speaker Thissen for giving Minnesota this chance to partner with them and help assure their world medical preeminence will continue for decades to come here in Rochester Minnesota," Dayton said.
Dayton also spoke about a number of issues including his support for gay marriage and the importance of after school programs.
However, one striking absence from Dayton's speech was the topic of gun control.
