ROCHESTER, Minn. (KTTC) -- A storm system will materialize to our south and west bringing with it a wintry mess for the area on Sunday.
Freezing rain will develop in north Iowa come Sunday morning making travel extremely hazardous to impossible. As the morning goes on the precipitation will makes its way into Minnesota. Precipitation could possibly start as a snow and sleet mix before turning into mainly freezing rain with ice accumulations of around ¼ of an inch or more possible.
Timing: Early morning for north Iowa
Late morning for southern Minnesota
Impacts: Icy roads and sidewalks will make travel extremely difficult to impossible and is not recommended for all of Sunday area wide.
Ice build up on power lines and tree branches could cause spotty power outages.
