ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- The Century Panthers girl's hockey team is practicing for a tournament in honor of Shannon O'Hara -- a 13-year-old who died of a brain tumor last year.
The second annual Shannon Cup takes place this weekend.
The Century Panther girls will be donating a check for $500 to the Shannon O'Hara Memorial Scholarship and will be volunteering during the tournament.
Gina Bierman is on the Century girls hockey team and used to play hockey with Shannon.
"She was just such a great person, and I know she would have been so happy to see how many people she's touched because of this," Bierman said. "She would love that her getting that disease would help so many people in the future."
The tournament will be held at Graham Arena over the weekend, and the check presentation will take place on Sunday afternoon.
The Shannon O'Hara Institute which funds the scholarship also raises money to support brain tumor research.
