ZUMBROTA, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Jonathan Closner was charged Tuesday with several felonies including attempted murder.
According to the criminal complaint, Closner admitted to authorities he hit Daniel Yennie in the head two times with a hammer after finding him in bed with his wife about 4:30 a.m. Monday.
Yennie, 20, is a co-worker of Closner's wife.
Closner and his wife were separated but he still had keys to the home. The complaint states that Closner said he grabbed the hammer on the way in to scare Yennie because he knew he was there.
Again, this all took place on Monday. As of Friday, an order for protection had been granted to Closner's wife which meant he was not allowed to have any contact with her or to be on the property.
Closner's wife said Yennie was sleeping when Closner struck him on the left side of the head with a hammer, saying Yennie never woke up. When authorities arrived on scene Yennie was found lying in bed in a large pool of blood and appeared to be seizing.
Two young children were asleep in the home during the assault.
Yennie was airlifted to Saint Marys Hospital where he was listed in critical condition with severe injuries to his brain.
Closner's next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 1.
