ALBERT LEA, Minn. (FOX 47) -- A man claiming to be "ex-military" with an explosive device under his car has been taken into custody without incident at a truck stop near Albert Lea.
NewsCenter's Courtney Sturgeon reports from the scene that the man has been taken to Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea to be evaluated. Police are only identifying him as a 26-year-old man.
The drama at the Trail's Travel Center off I-35 and County Highway 46 began in mid-afternoon, and got the attention of police about 4 p.m. Lt. Darin Palmer says the truck stop and nearby businesses were evacuated as a precaution. Some three hours later, the Bloomington Bomb Squad had arrived on the scene and inspected the black Ford Crown Victoria and declared that there was no bomb underneath the car.
