LEWISTON, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Fire destroyed a home near Lewiston.
It happened at 22790 County Road 25 shortly before 11:45 a.m. Friday.
Lewiston fire chief Charlie Matzke said no one was home at the time besides two dogs and both made it out safely.
Smoke billowed from the windows as the fire burned through the home's roof.
"We
believe it was a wood stove fire," Matzke said. "Being an old farmhouse
like this, [the fire] crawled into the attic really fast."
We're told this was the first time Lewiston's new fire truck was put to work at a fire scene.
The homeowner is Ted Hess, who is the assistant chief of the Lewiston Fire Department.
