ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- A Rochester man is facing multiple charges in the assault of his estranged wife.
Police arrested Chad Christiansen, 33, after the incident Monday night at the woman's home on 80th Street Southeast.
Shortly after she arrived home from work, she walked into the kitchen and that's when police say Christiansen hit her in the head with a baseball bat.
She told police he attempted to strangle her on the floor and twisted her neck.
When she was finally able to get free by saying they could work things out, police say her head was bleeding profusely.
"Crimes continue to escalate in the severity as well as the frequency," said Sgt. Tom Claymon of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office. "We encourage anybody in a situation where they're in a domestic assault situation to make sure they call the police and get some sort of intervention involved."
Christiansen is facing charges ranging from assault with a dangerous weapon to first degree burglary and false imprisonment.
