ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- In what is being considered a surprise, the Rochester School District is announcing some new numbers regarding student enrollment.
The school district predicted at the beginning of the year that they would lose an estimated 22 students from their student body. But as of Tuesday night's school board meeting, the total enrollment in the district is reported at 16,734, an increase of 339 students.
The district uses student enrollment projections to determine the amount of revenue they can count on to pay for salaries and school programs.
The Rochester Public School district is also showing an increase in minority enrollment, reported at 33.34% compared to the 31.9% from a year ago.
