Criminal complaints filed in recent sex assaults

ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Criminal complaints regarding the string of sexual assaults committed in recent months in the Kutzky Park neighborhood were filed Tuesday morning.

Three criminal complaints were filed including one on May 4. That's when police were dispatched to a report of a sexual assault at 5:30 a.m. A woman told police she had been approached from behind and shoved into the back seat of her car and assaulted.

The woman gave a suspect description.

The next case took place on July 1 at 3:30 a.m. while a woman was in bed with a man in a main floor bedroom, but was awakened to someone else touching her leg.  When she screamed, the intruder ran off.

A laptop computer was reported missing.

The third assault happened just before midnight on Sept. 12. Police believe an intruder gained entry through a side door and was hiding in an entryway that leads to the basement.  The woman living there had a dog which was acting in a peculiar way.  She went to investigate and found a man had entered her home.

She told police he violently attacked her, and aggressively beat and sexually assaulted her in the bathroom.  She managed to scream for help during the attack and neighbors heard her.

The attacker ran off.  Police arrived to find the victim with a swollen eye, red marks on her hands and neck, dried blood on her lips and mouth as well as her hair and clothing.

On September 14, a school liaison officer contacted the investigating officers regarding a young man who matched the description.  The teen suspect later admitted to police he had stolen a laptop from one of the homes.

A study is underway to determine whether or not the teenager will be tried as an adult in court.
