ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- The teenager who admitted involvement in a number of sexual assaults in the Kutzky Park neighborhood had his first court appearance on Monday.
At the hearing the state pushed for the juvenile to be tried as an adult. Before that can happen, a certification hearing will take place at a later date. Also, it was determined the boy be detained at the Many Rivers Juvenile Detention Center until that time.
Police linked the teen to at least three of four recent attacks in the Kutzky Park neighborhood. In the most recent incident, he's accused of entering a woman's home, then physically and sexually assaulting her.
The public defender has requested to waive the probable cause hearings for the other two assaults. The teen was arrested last Tuesday on probation violations, but soon after faced charges of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of burglary.
To be clear, no plea was made at Monday's appearance.
