ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Some Rochester firefighters had to start a fire on Thursday.
It was all part of a live fire training exercise at a home on 50th Avenue SE.
About 20 members of the Rochester Fire Department participated. They burned the house in four sections to practice searches, ventilation and extinguishing the fire.
"We're making these scenarios as realistic as possible," said Chris Bailey, Battalion Chief with the Rochester Fire Department. "They [firefighters] don't know whether there is going to be one person in there that they need to find or seven."
The house the firefighters burned was donated for this exercise.
