ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Charges were filed against a 17-year-old regarding the latest sexual assault in the Kutzky Park neighborhood, and police said they've positively linked him to two others.
The 17-year-old was arrested Tuesday night on a probation violation. While he was being held, investigators developed a case that links him to three of the assault cases. Authorities said this was possible through recovery of physical evidence, self-admission at the time of the arrest, victim testimony, and the victims also positively identified the 17-year-old in a photo line-up.
"We've already filed a petition to have him certified as an adult, and if that happens, it will move him to adult court," said Olmsted County Attorney Mark Ostrem. "If he's found guilty and sentenced as an adult he would look at a mandatory minimum of at least 144 months in prison."
That would be the sentence for the first case. The suspect attended his detention hearing Thursday. On Monday, he will have his initial appearance in Olmsted County Court. Investigators are working to bring the other two cases before the county attorney's office as well.
The teen is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
