WINONA, Minn. (FOX 47) -- A Winona special education teacher accused of slapping a student has quit her job.
The Winona Area Public Schools Board accepted Theresa Kersting's resignation on Tuesday.
She'll be put on paid leave through 2012 and won't be allowed to get another job with the district.
Kersting pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in August.
A criminal complaint says she slapped a 19-year-old male student in April after he grabbed her glasses and threw them on the floor.
