
CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Minn. (FOX 47) -- A 40-year-old man has pleaded guilty to felony mistreatment of animals after assaulting a horse in 2011.
Gregory Soukup pleaded guilty to felony mistreatment of animals.
In June, 2011, the owner of a farm said he found Soukup in a barn in the 1000 block of 55th St. NW. The man told authorities he saw Soukup inserting items into the horse's rectum.
The horse, known as Red, was in obvious physical distress and had to be put down due to internal injuries.
Soukup is scheduled to be sentenced in September.
