Red Wing woman at heart of quarantined flight

Updated:

CHICAGO (FOX 47) -- Passengers spent a terrifying three hours aboard a Delta plane at Midway Airport Thursday after a fellow passenger from Red Wing, Minn. was suspected of carrying a disease.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, a family member reported concerns that Lise Sievers had Monkeypox since she had been in Africa.

After the CDC examined pictures of a rash that had been sent to them, and reviewed Sievers' symptoms, it was determined the rash was not Monkeypox.

She was advised to seek medical care and all of the passengers were allowed to leave the plane.

Sievers had been visiting Uganda, and thanked officials for their response despite some conflicting information.

"We stayed at a hotel the other night and I think it left friends on my body," said Sievers.  "But my son, who's 4 1/2, had pustules on him.  So with conflicting information, I have to say... everybody just responded very well."

The flight originated from Detroit.
