WINONA, Minn. (FOX 47) -- A woman crossing a Winona street is sent to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle.
Authorities in Winona aren't releasing any information at this time about the accident, but eyewitnesses tell us a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle just before 8 o'clock Sunday morning. The accident happened on East Broadway Street, across from St. Martin's Lutheran Church. For nearly 3 hours part of the street was barricaded off between Kansas Street and Liberty Street.
Our man on the scene, Hans Dammermann, reported that eyewitnesses said a female had gotten out of her vehicle and was beginning to walk across East Broadway Street, when she was struck by a southbound vehicle.
The state patrol, Winona Police Department and other officials were at the scene, paint marks now indicate the accidents reconstruction.
The woman was transported to an area hospital, at this time her injuries are unknown.
We're expecting more details to be released Monday morning and will bring any updates as they become available
