St. Charles man busted for large amount of marijuana

Updated:

ST. CHARLES, Minn. (FOX 47) -- Members of the Southeast Minnesota Task Force moved in to arrest two people in an apparent drug raid Wednesday afternoon, and one of them is a familiar name.

In October of 2010 Stephen Conlin was arrested by Winona County deputies for possession of 17 pounds, or 85,000 dollars of high grade marijuana, two handguns and four long guns,  all this while Conlin was running for St. Charles City Council.

Voters in St. Charles were stunned when the raid on his home and barber shop business came just days before the election.

And Wednesday afternoon, it happened again.

With a search warrant, officers with the Southeast Minnesota Task Force broke through the front door of the building said to be the future location of Conlin's new barber shop at 943 Wabasha Avenue.

Authorities seized what they call a large amount of marijuana plus $600 inside the building.

Winona County Chief Sheriff's Deputy Ron Ganrude says Conlin was hauled away, along with a man named Ted Wilkenmeyer.

The two were arrested for 5th degree substance crimes and obstructing with force.
