ROCHESTER, Minn. (FOX 47) -- A police sting by the Rochester Police Department resulted in the arrest of 18 men over two days.
The sting happened Dec. 20 and Dec. 21 after a female undercover officer posted an ad on a web site offering services as an escort.
The men all made arrangements to meet the escort and committed to exchanging money for sexual favors.
Formal charges are pending of a gross misdemeanor for solicitation of a prostitute in a public place.
According to Rochester Police Department's Captain Brian Winters, this is the most significant and concentrated effort to impact this illegal business in the city and surrounding areas. Law enforcement officials are hoping stings like this not only slow the demand but minimize human trafficking in the area.
