ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- August was a strong month for Minnesota tax collections.
State finance officials said Thursday that more than $1 billion flowed into the Minnesota treasury, which was $46.7 million ahead of projections.
Tax receipts for individual, corporate, sales and motor vehicle taxes all exceeded expectations. For the fiscal year, Minnesota has seen $40 million more than officials were anticipating.
Minnesota budget officials warn that the results are considered preliminary and there can be wide swings from month to month. This report didn't look at spending patterns and the next comprehensive economic forecast isn't due until November or December.
